Second Annual Architecture, Culture and Spirituality Symposium
St. John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota
June 17 2010 - June 19 2010
We would like to invite AHRA members to attend the 2010 Architecture, Culture and Spirituality Symposium to take place at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. St. John's is located about 90 minutes north of Minneapolis.
The symposium will meet from Thursday noon to Saturday noon, and the accommodations will be on site at the new Abbey Guesthouse designed by Vincent James Architects. The guesthouse overlooks a lake and has a large outdoor deck, a dining hall, and other spaces for meeting and contemplation. The site is beautiful, peaceful, and inspiring: exactly the type of environment necessary to consider, share, and speculate about ACS issues. St. John's Abbey Church by Marcel Breuer is close to the guesthouse.
The Symposium will include four sessions covering a variety of topics relevant to architecture and spirituality issues. A closing session will debate what has been presented and seek some synthesis. As part of the symposium, we’ll have special presentations by architects Vincent James and Michael Rotondi. Optional meditation will be offered each morning and there will be generous free time for connecting to oneself, other people and the surroundings. There wil be no symposium fees. Attendants will only have to cover their room and board expenses. For more information, please visit the event website.
